We are back from the Alton Bay Conference. What a true blessing it was. There was time to see many of our friends, to unwind to some extent, to be encouraged, and there was some excellent teaching as well.
For us, the past year has been a struggle. 1 year ago I have a very bad infection which overflowed my lung and required surgery. We have has controversy in the church which led to a church split. My dad is nearing the end of his days. It has been a real struggle. We have had some questions about continuing.
We felt God met us at the conference. He spoke clearly, consistently, and continuously about staying the course. As Alan Redpath said, “The toughest battles are fought right before the war is over.”
I am very grateful. Amen.

Calvary in Transition?
Posted by: | Comments
Hearkening back to Wednesday afternoon’s post, a couple of weeks age there was a post about Calvary Chapels being in transition. In particular, a couple of comments were made:
- “The end result of these changes signals the future of CCCM and the end of Calvary Chapel as a “movement”… in my opinion.”
- “The movement is in its last days as a cohesive religious phenomena and only time will be able to truly judge Calvary Chapels impact on the church universal and it’s place in church history.”
I sincerely disagree. It is my opinion that Calvary Chapels have been freed from the top heavy bureaucracies that turn churches and denominations into institutions as opposed to spiritual organisms.
We are pleased to be a Calvary church plant. We are grateful to seek God through heartfelt worship and the study of God’s word. It is good that men take their hands off of God’s church and allow the Holy Spirit and the word of God to guide the local church.
I believe that God has only begun to use the Calvary movement. Praise God!
RE: A Response To Robert Furrow

Last week a well known “Christian” blog trashed blog trashed Robert Furrow for defending Chuck Smith over some of the anti Calvary Chapel blogs that exist. Frankly, I found the post pretty gratuitous and self serving. This is a blog which has specialized in anti CC rhetoric and smack blogging.
I have observed Robert to be gracious and God fearing as well as a pretty fine Bible teacher. Sadly, this is much of what passes for Christianity these days…self-effacing piety combined with trash talk. Sad, but true.

Leadership Conference Part 2
Posted by: | CommentsGreat teaching, great worship, & great fellowship. It is good to be a part of these conferences. Sometimes we need to be encouraged. Othertimes we need to encourage. There are times that we need to be around one another. This conference was all that and a bit more.
