Monday Reflections 01.25.10

We meet in a hotel in West Springfield, Mass. On Sunday, during the worship music, a woman came into the room and said her daughter’s child (5 weeks old) had died suddenly early that same morning. She asked if she could bring her daughter into the service and would we then pray for her. Truly a tragedy of epic proportion had befallen this young woman. It was incredible how God poured out His Spirit on that place. Simply amazing. Simply amazing. I have never seen anything quite like that.

This Is True
Posted by: | CommentsNo man builds the church but Christ alone. Whoever is minded to build the church is surely well on the way to destroying it, for he will build a temple to idols without wishing or knowing….We must proclaim–He builds. We must pray to Him that He may build. We do not know His plan. We cannot see whether He is building or pulling down. It may be that the times, which by human standards are times of collapse, are, for him, the great times of construction. — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Preach it brother!

Great service on Sunday! One of those times where God really was doing the ministry.- Lot of hope and optimism is our home, life, and ministry.
- Mid week Bible study starts on Thursday. We are geeked.
- Going to have to put in extra preparation for the more topical teachings starting on Sunday.
- Lots of sloppy wet snow on the ground.

When Indeed

“When people question what you read; when people question what you say; when people question what you write; when people question what you believe; when people question with whom you hang out with; when people question your church; when people question your value; when people question your motives; when people question your intelligence; when people question your morals; when people question your loyalties; when people question your sense of humor; when people question your faith; when people question you; first, answer with humility; then, answer with perseverance.” — David Hayward

Tele Coaching Network
Posted by: | Comments
About 5 months ago I had the opportunity to get involved in a tele-coaching network led by Bob Franquiz. He is the lead and founding pastor of Calvary Chapel Miami Lakes and the founder of Church Strategies. He is the author of several books including Zero To Sixty. One of his passions is starting, building, and leading successful churches.
I was not looking to get involved in any sort of coaching network. At the time I was very busy failing in ministry and feeling very sorry for myself. I really did not have the time for coaching. We had just gone through a very nasty church split and I believed that I was just about done with this church as well as pastoral ministry.
The biggest challenge to quitting was my understanding of Romans 11:29; For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. I really believed the God called me to start this church and that He was not going to repent of that promise.
Anyway, through the kindness of others, I got involved in the network. The first three sessions were very informative. I liked the calls and learned useful information. Then something happened between the 3rd and 4th calls. My spirit seemed to be revived. I found myself leading the church in a way that had been absent before. I was praying more. The preaching was more inspired.
Was it the coaching network? I do not know. I am certain that being a part of the network was an important part of my being able to move forward and stay in the ministry. Perhaps the greatest benefit I received from the coaching network was that I began to think about the church and my ministry. What a concept! What a breakthrough!
I highly recommend that pastors and church planters get involved in coaching networks. You can find out information about Church Strategies Tele-Coaching Network by going to http://www.church-strategies.com/. It sure has been a blessing for me.
